Lazy morning. We ladies gunked over to try to find the old tramway that went up to Lake McDonald. Tromping around in the woods we saw moss, little dogwood and skunk cabbage, but no tramway. Back at the boats we up anchor and are off to Belle Island. Not far, but we who have been here before were upset with how much the resort has gone downhill. The walkway has fallen in and is not very safe. The lodge has totally collapsed. Most of all it’s the vandalism that really hurts. Mike, Haley, Jamie and I gunked over to Bailey Bay to find the hot springs. We were told it was a ten minute walk. After walking for a good trail 45 minutes we reached a rope crossing a wide waterfall and slippery rocks. Decided not to continue. Lots of wild flowers; paint brush and Iris. Back at the docks we had Tom and John on “Impossible Dream” from Washington joined us for Betty’s Dutch dinner.
