David, Jamie and I took a tour and walked the dirt road and old boardwalk to Namu Lake.  Namu was once home to two thousand people and now there are just caretakers here to watch it fall apart.  There are still many ruins.  The wild flowers are incredible.  Enjoyed our stay and on our way again.  Talked to vessel heading north and towing a sailboat and his skiff.  David gave them some good advice on obtaining parts.  We anchored for the night in a little group of islands across from Duncanby and gunked to see the old Goose Bay Cannery.  Nobody home, but they sure have done a lot of work since we were last here last.

Raining again.  Bought groceries and ice cream bars at the store and Marko made special coffees.  Said our “goodbyes” at Shearwater and” Ladner Lass” and ourselves headed south to Burke Channel to catch halibut.  It was not to be!  But we did see whales.  Carried on to spend the night at Namu an old cannery built in 1912.  Sunny.  Met Renie’, Pete and Theresa.  They’ve done a great job on the gardens and we had a wonderful pot luck with them with them a group of three guys from the States and a young kayaker from Scotland.

Foggy and raining.  Bob, “On the Edge” gives us a call on the VHF at 6am as he‘s passing and on his way south.  We take Tolmie Channel right past Klemtu.  Didn’t stop, but quite taken aback at the sight of the new ferry terminal.  The long house that we toured last time stands on the point as we go past.  We transmitted Oscar Pass and on to Mathieson Channel.  Trouble with our Nobeltec (charting system on computer.)  Fixed it. South again going through Reid Passage and just off Ivory Island we spot “Shaman” coming in from the outside.  They had a bumpy trip.  We all headed for Shearwater, where Bob has arranged moorage. It’s Pat’s birthday.

Foggy.  “Ladner Lass” and ourselves are going south on the inside, “On the Edge” is going to Ocean Falls to pick up granddaughters and “Shaman” is heading toward Aristazabal Island.  We do Otter Channel to Cridge Pass and actually see whales in Whale Channel.  It’s sunny and smooth.  We were going to stop at Hartley Bay but changed our minds and heading south on Fraser Reach.  Thought about staying at Butedale, but after watching a cruise ship wash hit the docks there we decided to go on to Khutze Inlet.  It windy and rainy, but we anchored just inside the harbour behind a reef and are safe for the night.   We hear from “On the Edge” who are already here at the head of the bay and settled in for the night.

Foggy.  We all waited for the fuel dock to open at 7am and got diesel at $1.28 a litre at the only and very busy Petro Cda.  Underway and all heading south on Malacca Passage on the east side of Porcher Island. It’s now sunny with the wind behind us.  Passed Oona River to Ogden Channel.  Saw a very large grizzly in Alpha Bay.  He took off across the beach at one heck of a speed when he saw us. “Shaman” and “On the Edge” went in the back door of Anger Island and we went in through Ire Pass into Anger Bay.  Good anchorage, but has a very narrow entrance and lots of rocks. Some pretty scary names up here.  Pat made a great dinner and we discussed plans for tomorrow.

Sunny and hot. A day to get groceries, grog and do laundry.  Well maybe some shopping and site seeing.  Breakfast at Smiley’s.  “Shaman” and “Over the Edge” joined us at the yacht club.  They caught salmon.  Haley caught a tyee (King Salmon over 30 lb).  Wow.  Had lunch at the pub again.  Eagles, young and old are everywhere!  Jamie and I went for a long walk to the other end of the city.  Saw the beautiful sunken gardens and watch the sunset.

5am is just too early!  Back on Behm we pass Eddystone (the pointed finger island) and out onto Revillagigedo Channel for our return trip to Prince Rupert.  Off Fox there were lots of commercial fishermen waiting for the opening.  “Shaman” and “Over the Edge” throttled up and went ahead to Dundas Island to fish.  It was a spectacular trip across Dixon Entrance.  Smooth, Smooth.  Got in touch with Prince Rupert Yacht Club.  We stayed there and “Ladner Lass” moored on the government dock right beside us.  Through customs and out for dinner at the Breakers Pub (best calamari).  Great day!
